Context
It is often difficult for patients to feel comfortable while confined in hospitals. For terminal patients, hospices and palliative clinics can feel psychologically and physically taxing for themselves and their families. Is there a way to design a sensory-based therapy that can offer some respite, and provide a space for patients to feel relaxed, peaceful, and reflective?
Impact
We designed and built a prototype for therapy space that leverages the impacts of sensory channels to promote calmness by using light temperatures, soothing visuals and ambient consonant sounds. The patient can interact with a Leap Motion sensor to control the visuals, and will have their biometric data monitored with heart rate sensors.
