Disinfodex

Challenge

Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, etc. regularly release public disclosures about content takedown related to disinformation campaigns, often related to state or international actors. With so many platform disclosures being self-reported by platforms and studied by third-party open source investigators (OSI), there was no centralized database of disclosures being maintained or managed.

Outcome

The team of industry researchers, formed at BKC’s Assembly: Disinformation Fellowship, worked together to scrape and catalog disinformation disclosures released by platforms on internal blogs, reports, and websites. I designed the database and worked with Vivek to build the interface, which displays information pulled from an Airtable backend.

The main section of the page features a comprehensive table with information about the takedowns.
